Bath Freight Shed

Bath Freight Shed

This structure, once the Maine Central Railroad Freight Shed, has a unique downtown location at the site of the former Kennebec ferry landing. It was a major link in local rail and river transportation system during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Freight Shed is a contributing element in Bath’s Downtown Historic District and has become a focal point for the community. The Bath Freight Shed Alliance was formed to adapt this historic, industrial waterfront property into a public gathering place, supported and used by the whole community while encouraging layered activities that sustain local food, education and the environment.
